Judgements as a light breaking through (Shofar series part 2)
This book raises the question whether the Apocalypse does indeed contain a clear mirror—reflecting the concrete earthly history. Is it all that surprising that many people—notably due to the numerous interpretations of the text of the Apocalypse as pertaining to present and future—put aside this last book of the Bible with a sigh, as if it were sealed forever with seven seals? In The Seven Shofarim in the Apocalypse, Dr. A.A. Leenhouts postulates that it would be utterly meaningless if it were impossible to discover a historic context—even under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In this book, he strongly emphasizes the consistently-sustained image of the series of plagues in Revelation as the mirror image of Israel’s cycle of feasts, and thus establishes the link between the trumpets in Revelation and the use of the shofar in the worship services of ancient Israel. The author criticizes contemporary New-Age philosophy, wondering whether mankind, crossing from the second to the third millennium, can drift comfortably from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius apart from Jesus’ death on the cross, as New-Age adherents proclaim. Instead, the author suggests that mankind will see the dawn of a ‘Third Day of God’, when Revelation 10 will be fulfilled. According to him, the key to deciphering the liturgical hieroglyphs of the Apocalypse is hidden in Revelation 10.
